About This Product

Clove Oleoresin

Clove oleoresin is one of the most potent and commercially important spice extracts — a dark viscous concentrate of Kerala cloves with an intensely warm, medicinal-sweet aroma dominated by eugenol (75%+) and its ester acetyl eugenol (10%+). Eugenol is both the primary flavour compound and a pharmaceutically active molecule with documented anesthetic, antimicrobial and antioxidant properties.

PAX Herbal produces clove oleoresin from premium Kerala handpicked clove buds. Eugenol and acetyl eugenol content are tested per batch by GC/MS. Two feedstock grades are available: bud oleoresin (highest eugenol and aromatic quality — premium grade) and stem oleoresin (slightly lower eugenol, more economical). Both food-grade and pharmaceutical/dental-grade specifications are available with appropriate documentation.

Common Questions

Buyer FAQs

Eugenol, the primary compound in clove oleoresin, is a natural local anesthetic and antimicrobial. It is the active ingredient in ZOE (zinc oxide eugenol) — the most widely used temporary dental cement globally. It is also used in dental emergency preparations, root canal sealers and clove oil for toothache pain relief.
Eugenol is the primary phenolic compound — hot, medicinal, intense clove character. Acetyl eugenol (eugenol acetate) is its ester — sweeter, fruitier, more rounded character. The balance between the two defines the character of clove oleoresin: higher acetyl eugenol gives a softer, sweeter clove note; more eugenol gives the stronger, more medicinal character.
Yes. Eugenol can be isolated from clove oleoresin (or directly from clove essential oil) by alkaline extraction. Isolated eugenol is used as a pharmaceutical raw material, fragrance ingredient and as the chemical precursor for vanillin synthesis. We can supply clove oleoresin as feedstock for eugenol isolation.
MOQ is 25 kg. Samples available for eugenol testing and flavour evaluation.
