About This Product
Asafoetida Ferula Resin
Asafoetida (Ferula assa-foetida), called Hing in India, is one of the most distinctive and culturally significant flavouring agents in the world. Obtained from the dried latex (gum resin) of the Ferula plant root, it has a powerful sulphurous, garlic-onion aroma in its raw state that transforms during cooking into a remarkably pleasant, onion-like savouriness — making it indispensable in Indian vegetarian cooking where it substitutes for garlic and onion.
PAX Herbal supplies two forms: Natural resin (pure gum extract, 40–60% resin content, the most potent form) and Compounded hing (natural resin mixed with wheat flour or rice flour starch, diluted to 10–30% resin — the common commercial form used in Indian cooking). Both are available in lump, granule and powder form.
We supply to spice manufacturers, food companies, Ayurvedic formulators and pharmaceutical flavour extraction companies.
