Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla), commonly called German Chamomile, is the world's most widely consumed herbal tea ingredient. Its characteristic sweet, apple-like aroma comes from a complex of volatile compounds including bisabolol oxide, chamazulene and apigenin. These compounds are also responsible for its well-documented anti-inflammatory, anxiolytic and mild sedative properties.
