About This Extract

Amalaki 35% Tannin Extract

Amla extract (Emblica officinalis) concentrates the exceptional antioxidant profile of Indian Gooseberry into a standardised, highly bioavailable form. The extract is characterised by two key marker groups: hydrolysable tannins (emblicanin A, emblicanin B, punigluconin, pedunculagin — 35%+) and natural Vitamin C (ascorbic acid, 30%+), uniquely stabilised by the tannin matrix.

Unlike synthetic Vitamin C, amla's ascorbic acid is naturally protected from oxidation by the surrounding tannins — making it significantly more stable and bioavailable than isolated ascorbic acid alone. This is the key marketing differentiator for natural Vitamin C supplement brands.

PAX Herbal produces amla extract from high-Vitamin C varieties of Rajasthan-grown amla fruit using a controlled water extraction and spray-drying process. The extract is a light tan to brown fine powder tested per batch for tannin content and Vitamin C potency.

Common Questions

Buyer FAQs

Synthetic ascorbic acid is easily oxidised and is a single isolated compound. Amla's Vitamin C is naturally embedded within a tannin matrix (emblicanins, punigluconin) that protects it from oxidation and is believed to enhance its bioavailability and sustained release. This makes amla extract a highly valued "whole food Vitamin C" ingredient for premium, clean-label products.
Stored sealed in foil packaging below 25°C, amla extract has a shelf life of 24 months. Vitamin C content is tested at the time of production and we recommend re-testing if stored beyond 18 months. Cold chain storage is recommended for prolonged holding of the high Vitamin C grades.
Yes. Emblicanins A and B are the signature tannin-Vitamin C hybrid compounds unique to Emblica officinalis and are tested in our extract. They are not found in synthetic Vitamin C or other botanical Vitamin C sources.
MOQ is 5 kg. Sample quantities (50–100g) are available for formulation testing.
