Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus), known as Bhustrina in Ayurveda, is one of the most widely cultivated aromatic grasses globally and a major export herb from India. Its primary bioactives are citral (a + b isomers, ≥65% in essential oil fraction), limonene and myrcene, conferring potent antimicrobial, antifungal, anxiolytic and antioxidant properties. Its fresh citrus aroma drives massive demand in the food, beverage and fragrance sectors.
