About This Product

Gujarat Castor Seeds

Castor (Ricinus communis), called Arandi in India, is India's most commercially significant industrial oil crop — India produces approximately 85% of global castor seed and castor oil supply, with Gujarat accounting for the majority of domestic production. Castor oil (derived from the seed) is unique among vegetable oils for its exceptionally high ricinoleic acid content (85–90%) — a hydroxylated fatty acid with properties found in no other commercially available oil, making castor oil indispensable across industrial, pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications.

PAX Herbal supplies castor seeds in bold and small grain varieties, machine-cleaned to remove admixture and shrivelled seeds. Oil content (47–51%) and FFA (<1%) are tested per batch. Castor oil (cold-pressed and solvent-extracted grades) is available as a separate product from our processing partners.

Common Questions

Buyer FAQs

India (primarily Gujarat, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh) produces approximately 85% of global castor due to ideal agroclimatic conditions — hot dry weather during maturation that maximises oil content, combined with decades of specialised cultivation and infrastructure. Unjha in Gujarat is the global castor trading hub.
Ricinoleic acid is a hydroxylated C18 fatty acid — found in nature almost exclusively in castor oil at 85–90% concentration. The hydroxyl group gives castor oil its exceptional viscosity, polarity and reactivity properties that no other vegetable oil possesses. This makes it irreplaceable in lubrication, polymer synthesis, cosmetics and pharmaceutical applications.
Yes. Cold-pressed and solvent-extracted castor oil (pharmaceutical, industrial and cosmetic grades) is available through our processing partners. Please contact us for specifications and pricing.
MOQ is 5 metric tons for seeds. For castor oil, MOQ is 1 metric ton.
